We Have to make a positive change on the community.

Action plan:

1. Call Manukau Council and see if they have any places where we can paint over graffiti

2. Make time to go to the location

3. See if they can pay for paint, if not we have to find someone else

5. Reflect on the job we have done in our community

21.10.08

Today we got details about our plan, on Thursday we are going to clean up graffiti.

23.10.08

Today we went and joined the Manakau Beatification Squad and helped clean up Graffiti.

We went to the Moony's Bridge and clean up that area.

Then we went and cleaned up a tunnel down by Aviemore Drive.

We had to climb across rocks to clean up the tagging.

After that the weather went bad and we could not clean up anywhere else.

So all in all it was a good fun day and we all learnt stuff.

Personal Reflections:

Jamie 'This inquiry task has been a valuable learning experience and I think we have made a positive change to the community'

Hello,

We are called “Da Klangers “and our group consists of Leo( The leader), Jamie (the spokes person) and Aaron(the technician).

Our task was to do something good to our community and make a wikispace of it.

We decided to clean up graffiti in our local community because we think that’s the main issue in our community. We got in communication with the Manukau Beautification Trust and they said we could help them out.

We contacted manukau beautification office and barbra set us up with the team, we used a phone..

On Thursday the 23 of October we left school at 9.15 and went down to Moony's Bridge at Pakuranga and we cleaned up the graffiti there.Next we went to a tunnel next to Aviemore Drive, down by the roundabout to Botany and Cascades road. And we spend ages cleaning it up. It was a lot of fun because we got to have a paint fight.

We learnt the skills of painting and co-operation and we learnt how hard we have to work to clean it up. We also learnt how to work a wikispace and edit it to make it look cool.

Overall, it was a helpful and educational experience and we made a positive change in the community.
